Hi everyone, As part of a school assignment I am supposed to ask the following questions to anyone that is eligible to vote in the upcoming Presidential election. So if anyone would like to take the time to answer these questions I would appreciate it.
1. How do you stay informed about what is going on? What specific tv shows, newspapers etc do you get your information from?
2. What issues are top priorities for you, and how does your candidate measure up on these issues?
3. Why are you not voting for the opposition?
Thanks for your time, Josh18

Oh goody. A survey. 1. How do you stay informed about what is going on? What specific tv shows, newspapers etc do you get your information from? Read Treasure Magazines (any). The monthly Finders Keepers newsletter and Kinzli's Forum. 2. What issues are top priorities for you, and how does your candidate measure up on these issues? Hunting in public lands. Candidates are ignoring this issue. 3. Why are you not voting for the opposition? Because they are the opposition, of course.

Hi Josh, interesting assignment. 1. T.V. News, CNBC (stock market channel), Time mag. Oh and the chronicle. 2. Education is tops for me. Bush says he's the "education Prez" but he hasn't done anything that is noticiable to me. There are more tests with lots of initials. Where is the funding that is needed? Well, it's in Iraq. Why rebuild that country when there is so much that needs fixing here? Pump the oil and use the proceeds to rebuild that country. Keep our tax dollars here. Also, I think health care in America is a mess. He has done nothing to assure that allamericans have health care. We spend too much money in other countries and our own citizens are neglected. Hospitals are closing, medicines cost too much. Have a really serious illness and you could lose everything to the cost of hospital care. Long term care for older americans is sky high. Forget the inheritance. 3. I don't think Bush should be elected, he's in over his head. You see it every speech. We had a surplus when Clinton left and now we have a deficit that is staggering. Guess who is gonna pay for it. Oh and forget social security. Bush and his friends keep getting richer and the working family has not gotten any help. Not with the cost of education and not with health care. These are just my opinions. I don't normally talk politics with people as it is usually problematic. So if someone doesn't agree with me that's okay. If someone who reads this doesn't agree or just thinks I'm misinformed or a dope, just put in your own 2 cents. Oh and I'm not a democrat either. Guess I've been disenchanted over the yrs. How much money do you have to have to be a republican? Guess I'm not even close. Hope this helps Josh. AG

Hello Josh, 1. How do you stay informed about what is going on? What specific tv shows, newspapers etc do you get your information from? answer; I watch FOX, CNN, and the real news John Stewart. 2. What issues are top priorities for you, and how does your candidate measure up on these issues? answer; Gayle said it best. a. education: what happen to all the promises, no child left behind. My daughter-in-law is a third grade teacher and she hasn't seen any improvements at her school. Matter of fact it's gotten worse. She has to spend her own money for a lot of the basic school materials. My son is trying to go back to College to obtain his Masters degree....you should see all the hoops he had to jump through. b. health: My mother has just turned 87 years old and for the past three years her medical co-payments has increased while her Social Security has remained the same. Her prescription drugs has also increased dramatically. c. security of our Nation: It's seem's like a lot of people around this world are very pissed off at us. Did you get a chance to see the audience at the United Nation's when President Bush was speaking? No man is an Island, and no Nation can go it alone. We are part of this planet and we must get along with everyone. Yes there are "Evil doer's" but we can not defeat them on our own. The world; Christian's, Jew's, Buddhist, Muslims, must realize that there is only one God, and no religion is any better than the other. Just remember God created man, and man created religion. If we all just played by the "Golden Rule, do on to other's as you want them to do onto you," the world would be a much better place. It is so sad to see that a religion can dictate and brain wash people's minds to hate someone who's cultures are different then theirs. Don't you find it most disturbing to see young women and boys strap on many pounds of plastic explosive and blow themselves and others up? 3. Why are you not voting for the opposition? answer: I have been a Republican most of my life, but ever since President Clinton was almost railroaded out of Washington DC, impeachment, for something that he has asked forgiveness from his wife, his daughter, his family, the Congress, the people of the United States of America, and from his Maker, and if Jesus on the cross forgave the sinners on the crosses next to him, then why couldn't the Republican's forgive this man who has done so much good for this Country during his 8 years in office? Also, what has happen to the three trillon surplus dollars? Is the economy any better now then 4 years ago? Are the street's any safer now? Do you feel secure about the Social Security benefits and will they be there when you get to the age of retirement. Is the health care any better now? Is the World any safer now? Yes after much thought and reviewing the past 4 years I will be voting for the opposition. Sorry, if I ruffled any feather's,

Hello Josh,
Interesting subject you've posted, Please do respond in the near future as to how your school assignment turns out.
Jim e-mailed and asked me to post this thread of his, He doesn't know or can't copy a message with his web TV provider. I'll post my message to your post here shortly but this thread is from Jim and is an interesting one at that. It really only covers one of the questions you've asked us to respond too. "3. Why are you not voting for the opposition?"
HH, Paul (Ca)
Subject: Democracy
At about the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in the year 1787, Alexander Tyler (a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinborough ) had this to say about "The Fall of The Athenian Republic" some 2,000 years prior. "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship." "The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence: From Bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to complacency; From complacency to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage." Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the most recent Presidential election: Population of counties won by: Gore=127 million Bush=143 million Square miles of land won by: Gore= 580,000 Bush=22,427,000 States won by: Gore=19 Bush=29 Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Gore=13.2 Bush= 2.1 Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the tax-paying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off government welfare..." Olson believes the U.S. is now somewhere between the "complacency and "apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy; with some 40 percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase. Pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake in this Election Year and that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom. God Bless America!

Good morning Paul and Jim,
Interesting theory and statistics; from the good professors own words, "some 40 percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase." Could that be caused by taxing the poor and middle class with a higher tax rate and the wealthy get even more wealthy?
Next; "Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off government welfare..." Is it not wonderful that someone is looking out for the poor and down trodden and wanting to make improvement's in their lives.
Forget about all the land and area that Bush won, the most important bottom line total is that Gore won the popular vote. Oh, yes there are most likely more flee's on the dogs in the counties that Gore won. (?)
Yes the rich are getting richer and the middle class and poor are getting poorer....check out that statistic.
Don't you find it very suspicious that our very own Vice President of the United States was a very high ranking person with Helaburton (SP) Industries and most of all the large contracts in Iraq are held by Helaburton?
Nice healthy discussion,
;)T

Hello Josh,
Of all the class assignment's you've completed this one will surely always be an remembrance for both you and your classmates, Excellent assignment especially for young adults wanting to get involved with political issues.
Please do take the time to respond and share with us how your's and the others in your class school assignment turned out. Our answers to your questions are just as important to you as how the outcome of your class assignment is to us, We are interested in how young adults view the current political issues So please do share as well we would appreciate it.
I've never been much of a spokes person or even a good writer so i'll limit myself to keeping it basic, I'll try to answer all three of your questions with keeping it simple. I'll keep Slick Willie out of my thread and keep it at a serious level.
Question 1. How do you stay informed about what is going on? What specific tv shows, newspapers etc do you get your information from?...............Most newspapers, Tv/internet news or studying a printed candidate survey distributed before election time, even then it's differcult to learn of all the views the candidates do or don't support.
Question 2. What issues are top priorities for you, and how does your candidate measure up on these issues?.........Abortion, War on Terrorists are just a couple of the many priorities, Our current President George Bush shares the moral obligation's many of us still hold.
Question 3. Why are you not voting for the opposition?............We have a moral obligation to exercise our voting privilege and vote for the people that still believe in moral values, Realize the extent of Terrorist acts and stay the course. John Kerry doesn't share these beliefs.
9/11 changed everything, It even changed the course of our Nation, our lives and even the President's. Many feel the President didn't fulfill his promise's to america, HOW can people still HOLD the President accountable for not following through with some of his promises after 9/11? ......... Our world will never be like it was before until we can take control of War on Terrorists! .......
We have two Candidates to select from, One is on key with moral issues and the other is not. How can one have self respect with going against moral values.
I'm casting my vote for our current president George Bush.

Quote from Paul, "I'll keep Slick Willie out of my thread and keep it at a serious level." Paul if you are keeping it at a serious level of discussion then why would you want to be little yourself by calling a past President "Slick Willie." Did you hear me call the Republican President an Alcoholic/Coke head or calling his underaged daughters, with fake ID's buying booze, unmoral? It doesn't matter how you feel about former President Clinton, his "Presidential Record" speaks for itself. 1. High employment 2. Lowest crime rate in decades 3. 3 trillon dollars in the Treasury 4. booming economy Paul I think being moral would be someone that tells the truth. I think that President Bush was on the right track when we went to war in Afganistan and kicked the Taliban butts, but we hadn't even found Osoma when we started to build up a trumped up threats from Iraq. So now we toppled Iraq, no WMD's, the majority of the people are not throwing flowers and cheering our troops on, unless rockets, truck bombs, buried road bombs, is there way of greeting our troops over there. What exit strategy has been presented? I'm afraid that we will lose many find brave American troops for many years to come. I think that I would rather have a President that would weigh the pros and cons of many situations and make a decision, even if it wasn't his original plans, and say this is not right and correct it, then be bull headed stick to his guns and by doing so alienate himself from the rest of the world. Oh so now I have to respond huh Paul. Well I did write a long opiion but when I re-read it I could see it might be hurtful to some so I erased it.
I'm not a Carry or Bush supporter completely. I do think our national security is the most important issue that faces us at this time. Fight the war's on their home court not wait for it to come here. 911 was just a little taste of what can happen if we don't make a stand now.
School's & health care are very trivial compaired to what this country faces at this time. Don't ever think this country can't be DOOMED.
Zip my mouth I've probably said too much already. God bless America.......j im

Hi OT, Let me just deal with the worst blunder you made, seeing how we seem to want to be outspoken on the matter.
You said "Christians, Jews, Buddhist, Muslims, only one God & no religion is any better than the other. I thought you were a Bible beleiver but after a comment like that I wonder.
No it was God that started religion not man. The Pharisees of Christ's day were very religeous, they believed in God yet Jesus said you are of your father the devil & that they were no better than snakes & vipers.
The devil has many forms of religion today & like Jesus our example, call a spade a spade.
Sorry if this is ofensive to any on the forum, but I say don't try to white wash everything & say it will be ok cause it won't, Armagedeon is comming & it's not far off.
Have a nice day tomorrow, & I'll not bring up this subject again on this forum. Thats where I stand............j im

Good morning Jim,
Yes I agree that we need to take it to them, but is Iraq them? Could it be that the Iraq campaign has something to do with security of future oil deals?
Would it not behove us to solicit the many other nations to help us with this task of going after the "evil doer's?"
Yes America is a great Nation, and we have and should be a light for democracy, but we can't go around forcing something that works so well for us down other nation's throats.
Yes God has blessed America and I hope that he continues to Bless the person that will guide our Country into the future, he'll need it.
I beg to differ with you about education and health. The future of a strong America depends on well educated children with healthy bodies and minds.

Hi Jim,
Yes, I have read the bible several times, and I was not there when the bible was written.....so I'm not sure what was written into the bible so that the educated religious teachers could control the uneducated masses.
Don't you think that the other religions love God as much as you do, and believe that their religion is better than the Christian faith? Was it not the Crusades that killed 100's of thousands of (non-Christians?) in the name of God? How about the Christian Spainard's that killed thousands of native Mexican's and of South American's, for their Gold and Silver and also in the name of GOD. I thought being a Christian is being Christ like, what happen to "I shall not kill?" I'm sure that God is shaking his head over the many Catholic priest that have molested the young boys of the church.
In your eye's, because of your religious background, I have blundered, but I have always tried to live my life by the golden rule and will continue to do so.
with love,
:-*T

I must say this, God wrote the book & promised to protect it through the ages, he moved holy men to record it as he desired, the best translation today is the King James translation, men have tried to alter it with many modern version's but the truth is there for the sincere seeker, if God was not able to protect its validity as he had promised, then none of his promises are valid.
Satanic inspired men love to say the Bible of today can't be trusted, but there's a reckoning day comming & we can believe that.
Sorry, there I go again, I'll shut up. Have a great day & go hunting, will ya.
It's 3am, why can't I sleep, to long a nap yesterday I guess.................j im
