Hi Tom, I know what you mean. I purchased a Cannon 5.0 mega pixel camera a year ago....I got the basics down pretty good, but reading the manual puts me to sleep. If I'm not falling asleep then what I'm reading goes into my brain as Wah wah wah wah, wah wah wah. Thank God my sons like that kind of stuff, they sit down with me and talk to me like I was in kindergarden. "Now dad this is a digital camera, this button turns the camera on, this is the lens, this is.......etc. Oh, give me the manual back and go home." :PT

.... "Now dad this is a digital camera, this button turns the camera on, this is the lens, this is.......etc. Now that is funny. Reminds me of work last year. The owner of this company fineally got himself a computer. State of the art, big and fast with a flat screen. (and here I am with a 233 Mhz and a 14" hand me down screen. but thats a different story, read "CHEAP") He called in one of his sons to teach him how to use it and the first thing I heard was "Now dad this is a mouse..........."

I don't think I've ever read a manual cover to cover. I can usually figure out the appliance by trial and error but sometimes find the manual helpfull.
Gold luck to all,
