I always view "Treasure Stories" with a skeptical eye.
As I was reading this story I watched for anything suspicious, or unbelievable.
A plumber named, Serafin TreviƱo, finds a cache of buried gold coins, okay, I can go along with that.
Trevino shows the coins to friends and neighbors, STUPID? yes, but believable, almost expected, considering.............
Stage left: inters the owner of the house, (who just happeneds to be a part time preacher), Alejandro Lopez, and his wife Angelica.
Wanting to get there greedy little hands on the gold coins, they concoct a thingy 'n Bull story about how Alejandro's daddy left the money to Ale, so he could build a church......
Then, Gloria Garcia Lopez, 78, original owner of the house, said, "my daddy was a Medico and he buried those coins there, they belong to me"
(that part could be true)
Gloria even sent her husband and brother-in-law under the house, to search for the coins, "with a broken metal detector"
(if there's any part of this story I believe, its the part about the "Broken" metal detector)
About this time, the story is starting to look, more 'n more like entertainment, and less 'n less like a, news flash.
I find the stupidity and greed of those involved, typical, and very much believable, but when John MacCormack, (the author of the article in question) came up with, Juan P. Ramos, 76, jogging it the park, that was it for me, I busted out laughing..... ;D
The closest Juan ever came to jogging was in 1935, when he tried to catch his runaway Burro.
These days, you can find Juan, in the shade of some
old cactus, in an extended siesta........
If this case is in litigation, you know dammed well who's
going to end up with all the money......
True or not, I enjoyed the article..........
It's raining.............
