www.kinzlicoils.com/mdpix-uploads/Beachdog1.jpg [/img] Dawg chased a small wave back into the ocean, satisfied it was no longer a threat, she turned and headed for dry sand. Apparently, Ocean didn't cotton to having one of her waves chased, so she slapped dog in the ass with a little larger wave. This caught Dawg by surprise, her rear-end hunkered down, and her hind legs tried to pass her front legs. She did a K-9 impression of a Top Fuel Dragster's burnout. When traction prevailed, Dawg was off like a shot, her rooster-tail rivaling that of the Miss Budwisser. A 4.55 ET for the quarter, not bad, but then she had 4 wheel drive, and an angry ocean at her heels. With a vigorous shake to dislodge the indignation, a couple kicks of sand that only dogs and Billy Martin can stage, Dawg, (with head held high) pranced off, as if nothing had happened. I had to suppress a welling snicker, not wanting to add insult to injury. I thought it best not to point and laugh at this time. My dog's name is Shiloh, but I often, (affectionately) call her, Dawg or Old Cow. R~

Recently Tom SM has shared with me some of his writings.
I did my piece on Dawg, (which, by the way, is based in large part on an actual event) to try to entice Tom to post his afore mentioned, "Junk Drawer Entropy" I've read it, its good, I believe it gives a glimpse at another side of Tom, it certainly demonstrates his versatility.
So, come on Tom, don't leave me hanging out here all by my lonesome.

Hi Ralph, Looks like your dog just got a taste of a sneaker wave that bite her in the rump You did the right thing not poking fun at her, Animals have feelings too. Also, I did a little catching up on my post reading and laughed when I seen your story about the old forum. I was just as surprised as Ron was not to see his desk in the room, Then I remembered, He always did a good job of playing hookie from work and his wife. Stands to reason he played hookie from school as well. Then! The post of the OT quarter had me rolling over my bowl of cereal. I laughed so hard I don't know if I wet my pants or if I slobbered milk onto my lap. Keep them coming, Paul

Thanks Ralphus,
I really enjoyed reading your story on "Dawg." You and Tom from San Mateo are great writers and I really enjoy reading your stories. I too hope that Tom post his story, "Junk drawer enthropy," I read it with amazment to see so many in's and out's of emotions and bring it back with such a great ending, and to do it in a short story form. You two are gifted and it's a real pleasure to have you guys as friends, along with the many others here on this forum.
Give Dawg a biscuit for me, ahhhh, on the other hand maybe not, he's kinda of looking like Moosie-hefty.

Ralph - finally today I read the off-topic posts. Please know that I appreciate your kind comments about "Junk Drawer Entropy" (and thank you, too, OT!) but I think I won't post stories because the 5000 character limit is very limiting and to post a short story - even a real short one in two or more posts would break it up too severely - and a short story without natural breaks can't - in my opinion - survive such breaks. Short stories without breaks have to be tight, and seem like a "moment's thought." Of course, we both know that one works like a dog to create them.
Loved your story about Shiloh, or "Dawg". Great story. Loved it.
Tom
