My wife is kinda getting the bug, from showing her some of the pics of goodies you all find here. I'm pretty sure she won't be out in the way hot of the summer, or not to much water. Am considering the Fisher 1225-x for her, anyone have any experiance, or knowlege of this machine. any info. , good or bad, will be appreciated. one other thing, saw in the ad at kellyco, I think, that the coil is waterproof. Would that be ok to maybe wade some swim beaches, as long as the control box doesn't get wet?...just in case she decides to cool off....lol.

Silent search. Quick response, but probably not as good w/averaging and target-separation as certain Tesoro's. A pleasant easy to learn sound. Not a deepseeker, when compared to power house machines of today - but then again, it wasn't made to compete w/that market. Good machine for the money.

If she likes it I guess it would be ok, old technology, that was the first machine I ever bought 16 years ago, looked identical to those of today, an iron lover. Sorry to be a downer guy..j im ps) there all waterproof coils any more. Hunting in water with a non waterproof detector is dangerous, one slip or even someone accidently running into you, bye bye baby. The name of that blue colored water VLF slips my mind right now, someone will think of it I'm sure, not much more money & it's light & waterproof to 6 feet. Just a suggestion

I found the 1225X to be somewhat noisey, but otherwise entirely satisfactory for general use.
