Well I took my old detector with me to Barbados. Due time constraints I got out about 3 hours. My finds were over$25.00 Barbados, $3.00 US and a Silver necklace with a Silver St. Michaels metal. I let some friends use it . Their finds included a very heavy Silver bracelet and about $20.00 Barbados. I never saw anyone MD'ing anywhere on the island. The police said I could detect on any beach and security people for different Hotels were friendly pointing out places to look. the only down side I could not pack my scoop and my MD coil had a leak so I could not get into the water.

Sounds like the time you did have to MD you did pretty well. It's nice to knopw that you were able to MD on the island and the hotel empolyees pointed out some good spots. HH Vern2sjc

When you say that the police said you could detect, is that because you asked them ahead of time, or was this something said in passing when they saw you out there? The reason I ask is, I've heard that some people going to resorts south of the border (Mexico and perhaps Carribean?) asked consulates, bureaucrats, or whatever, and were told "no". Imagine their surprise, when they get there and see others md'ing on the beach with no problems?

Sounds like a fun time! How close is Barbados money to US money? Great job!

Sounds like a great trip. Too bad about the leak and the scoop! Sun, sand and a detector, pure fun with the finds just making it better.

Tom, The police there walk some beats and visit the hotels. The officer I talked with came to me as I was where a camo hat. He told me it is illegal to wear camo in Barbados only their Military can. He saw I could detect any beach and if anyone tried to prevent me to call the police.
Tristan, The Barbados money is similar in size and shapes, but made of different metals. They use only $1.00 coins there that are the 8 sided and the size of a quarter it registered as a screwcap on my machine same as their quarters. So out of my $25.00 17 was in Barbados dollars.
