Thanks for the article goldhart,
I have been doing just what this article suggests. Unfortunately, Marina is only 25 years old - it was a big sand hill before that. But I have been reading about the Mexican War battle of 1846 and the development that took place around the same time period.
Additionally, I know many older residence in the area (60+) and have been talking with them about my new hobby. There are many building in Pacific Gove that have been around over 100 years. Also, I'd like to detect on the Presidio and surrounding grounds, but I need to get permission from someone with high level authority.
Many areas have been commmercialized for tourists or protected by national monument status.
I have been thinking of retracing my youth as I know many places in Sacramento/Modesto/Grass Valley (I am fifth generation Californian on my mother's side).
