Hi all again,
So I broke down today and bought a MXT. So far so good. Not to difficult to use, a bit more difficult to pin point dead center, but getting the hang of it. Like the features.
I will be beholden to all of you that post any particular tips related to the use of this particular machine.
Thanks
dboy

I don't know to much about this machine, but to get use to it for a little while use the pre set factory setting's.Then start playing with the setting's,also once you get use to the pinpointing you will be right on the money with it.Whites is excellent at pinpointing target's.Good luck and HH,Tom

Run the gain as high as you can for depth, the difference between preset and +3 is HUGE!

Hey dboy,
Congrats on the MXT! I use this machine and love it! Depending on the soil mineralization where you're hunting, be careful about cranking the gain way up. In my area in the San Gabriel Valley, it's rare for me to find a place where I can push it much past +1 without getting a lot of falsing. In fact, lately I've been putting it down to 9 with even better results.
Also, look for targets that maintain a fairly consistent VDI reading. Wide fluctuations are usually a good sign that you're detecting junk. This is particularly helping in distinguishing pull tabs from nickels, although be prepared to still dig a lot of pull tabs.
Check out the White's MXT forum for specific input on this machine. Lots of good hints there.
You've got a fun machine, and you can learn the basics pretty quickly. I'll look forward to hearing about your finds.
HH,
Dan
