yes indeed !!, but fill those holes you dig ,and don`t leave the junk behind, i take all the dug junk to the trash, it`s disturbing to see detectorist leaving holes everywhere, some do,but most of us don`t, but our rights to hunt the beach could be endangered if enough people complain, the trouble with holes are joggers not looking where they are going, surfers looking at the waves, not the ground. so fill them good, take the trash, and good luck!!!

ZMAN is right! All it takes is one mishap and this fun filled hobby is history! So if ya see anyone leaving holes do the favor & kick in a little fill. The local beaches are a little slim this time of the year. But I'm finding out that if you wait for a certain type of winter storm, crossed with a funky incoming tide. Ka-bam...you got some major beach sand removal. Good virgin areas to hunt! (see tips section of this forum). If your a dry sand hunter, observing where people congregate is always a plus winter or summer. Happy huntin'! Hope to see you out there. Max

FILL IN YOUR HOLES!!! Absolutely right. I was at work one day and someone had the television turned to Opra and she was doing a segment on freak accidents. This person had died falling into a shallow hole at the beach! Alarm bells immediately went off in my head. I could just see us getting banned from metal detecting at the beach. All it would take would be some paranoid people to complain to some politician and that would be it. Many people in our society would give up their rights or take away the rights of others in the name of safety. I can think of 2 different occasions in the last couple of months where I saw holes left at the beach by an irresponsible detectorist. One group of holes were in a volley ball area and I saw several holes on Venice beach, one with a coil impression net to it and a Coke can inside of it, uncovered and in plain sight. Sorry for rambling on like that. Marc

The state parks we've gone to, charge for parking. The good thing is the receipt is good for the whole day, at any state park, so hit all the ones you're close to the same day!

You can also buy a year state parks pass-gets you into any of the state parks and state beaches for about $65. I use that up in less than a month if I was paying daily. Dan3
