Unfortunately, I lost my father on Monday. He was a great man. His death came suddenly and without warning. In the resulting chaos and confusion, my mother lost gold ear ring that he had given her which is about 3cm long, and maybe 3mm thick. She is devastated. Although the family has retraced all the steps, it is believed to have been lost in the Eden Memorial Park at the end of Sepulveda Blvd in Mission Hills, CA. Time is of the essence since we're afraid they will mow the grass.
Would anyone be willing to help?

Lewis,
I am deeply sorry to read about the loss of your father. I am sure your mother would be comforted by finding the ear ring which your father gave her. Unfortunately, I live to far away to be able to provide this service, which I would willingly perform for your mother. There are many detectorists from S. Cal that frequent this board and I am sure that many of them will volunteer to help you in this mission.
Peace be with you and your mother.

I'm sorry for the loss of your father.
I too am too far away to lend a helping hand. Try looking in the car that you Mom was in very carefully. Search the seats, under the seats ect. Search her clothing that she had on too that day. When did she or someone notice that is was missing? When was it last seen? That morning? The night before?
Hopefully someone is SoCal can help you. Also post this on the main board so everyone will see it. Not everyone goes to the secondary boards.
Contact the MD club closest to the area down there. You will get pleanty of help.
Welcome to our crazy family!
Good luck.

Thank you both very much for your condolences and advice. As a result, I got in contact with the Antelope Valley Treasure Hunter's Society, and the first member I called, Mike Temple, turned out to be my old metal shop teacher from high school 20+ years ago. With the permission of the memorial park, we'll be hunting tomorrow morning.
Best Regards,
Lewis
