[glow=red,2,300]TEXT[/glow] Hi Everyone, I think this is a very cool forum. My husband and I are moving to Cally we hope in the next couple of months. We have been detecting for 3 years and my husband sells Whites Metal Detectors We have detected in Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas. My husband found recently a US soldier's button pre WWI in Oklahoma and an 1851 Large 1 cent piece in near mint condition. Hope I look that good when I am 154 years old ;D I can remember when he first started detecting and really couldn't find any rings and only a few coins now he finds lots of awesome items. Shows determination is everything. We were wondering if there are any special laws in Cally regarding beach hunting? We are thinking of moving either near San Diego area or San Luis Obispo. I was wondering if we could rent and sell detectors on the beach or if laws prohibit it? We have been a member of several clubs and will start one of our own if there is not one available. We often sell at flea markets etc. Well hoping to hear from some of you ....and hope you find wonderful treasures in the sand and from enjoying the nature around you too. Sparklebeth TEXT

I think there is a club down there, there are some member's on here from around that area who should be able to help. Can't wait to hear about more of your find's.HH,Tom

Yeah Tom is right. The beaches in SF are part of the Golden Gate Recreational Aea, includes Ocean Beach, the Presidio (WANT TO HUNT THAT ONE BADDDDD!), Fort Point and other Areas. Everything else is pretty nuch fair game I think. There are tons of folks everywhere in NorCal who can help you. You sell new or used? Do you sell new MDs at fleamarkets? How well do you do? Seems to be rather high end items for a fleamarket. HH Martin

Hello Sparklebeth, I live in San Luis Obispo and there are no restrictions to hunting the beachs that I know of. There are regulars who lurk the Pismo Beach areas and that is a very long beach (about 7-8 miles that is heavily used (autos are even allowed!) if you are into dropped coins. Morro Bay and north are also great beaches however they aren't as heavily used for dropped coins. The long weekends during the summer are really the best as rings, watches, chains and even a cellular phone or two can be found. This past weekend with my new Whites Prizm I found $3.08 in clad, a silver chain, a ladies watch. (brand new and running that fit the Mrs. perfectly) and a St Christophers medallion. Anyway, the beachs in our area are fun and not closed to detecting and there doesn't seem to be as many detectors working them as one might think.
