If anyone is interested...Route 66 Gold Miners (GPAA chapter)is going to do a mini outing up in Azusa Canyon this weekend. Starts at 7:30 AM at the end of the East Fork. Next to the East Fork Ranger station. Hiking to Heaton Flats. Its about a 1/2 mile hike. So far about 8 are committed. Most are newbies to the prospecting world. It'll be a first for almost everyone. About 4 people will be huntiing using their metal detectors. 3 of them will be their first time gold prospecting with their detectors. So if you're interested: bring a lunch, long pants (snakes?!), small pick, plastic scoop, bug-off spray, etc... And for the daring...there's a five and one-half mile hike to the 'bridge to nowhere' and beyond! Really nice country stuff!

Big Max I am a GPAA member with the Orange County group. We meet next door to Peterson's Metal Detector. As I understand it from reading the posts, You guys are meeting at Felows Camp for a one day outing? I am new with my GMT and I could sure use some tips. I have pounded this area for a long time way before I even owned a good metal detector, but have not found anything significant. Could you let me know when the group is planning on going out next time? I would like to join you guys. Thanks

Becbom- Missed a good one this past May 22 (Saturday) and May 23 (Sunday). Two chapters merged together & had one big gathering of Au prospectors (about 100 people or so). Close to 10 dredges running! ;D Saw 2 drywashers goin'! Numerous submerged sluice boxes. Mostly people from the San Fernando chapter. I bought up some newbies to detect along the river past Heaton Flats. Their first time hunting. But no Au. This far past the rainy season and the gold just keeps workin' it way to China. Someone at the outing showed up with some of his raw diamonds. Neat experience, neat to see & a first for me! But I will be sure to post or contact you via e-mail for the next go! East Fork a fun place in the summer. Startin' to do alot more MD beach hunting with some luck! Past month been pretty rewarding so far. But should be even better when the weather gets hot! If interested...our meeting is in Santa Ana off the 57 & 22! Until next time! Happy Huntin'- Max
