Hey Randy-Man this is scary! I can hit a baseball to Sparks Elementary from where I live! Arm ain't what it use to be!? La Puente park removed all the sand & replaced it with the rubber pads (No Chips! ). Got only a Fisher GB2 now. But later my next acquisition is to get a detector with good target ID (visual & tone type). That way my digs will be more effective. A better good target ratio! Possibly a DFX, MXT or Explorer 2. Haven't heard too much about the CZ 3-D unit yet. But eventually I will be hunting that park. Heard La Puente was born back in 1840's. Missed a golden opportunity at the HS. Tore down part of the front entrance area and rebuild! Couldn't jump the fence!
I hit the front grass area of La Puente High School some months back on the weekend and found lots of coins but they were all clad. Got to be a few old ones in that grass somewhere. I also hit Sparks Elementary School on the same weekend and only found clad. Thought for sure I was going to get some wheat’s or silver from Sparks. I use to live on the corner of Duff and Temple and as kids we use to play all the time at Sparks on the weekends. They were doing some construction at Sparks when I went. I checked the dirt piles and only came away with coins from the late 60’s. My Parents bought they’re first new house on Duff Ave in the early or mid fifty’s. They said the house cost them a fortune of $13,000.00. We use to go hiking and fishing in Azusa canyon all the time. My father and I caught our share of trout in the streams of Azusa canyon. I remember seeing guys panning for gold all the time. Have you found any nuggets up there with you’re detector? I would like to give nugget detecting a try sometime. I’ve got a GQ and an Infinium detector. Do you think these two detectors would work well in Azusa Canyon?
