Hi Todd, I used to live in Hanford and Porterville and I remember going to Mooney's Grove in Visalia. Have you ever hunted there? Do you know if there are any restrictions to metal detecting there? I still have family in Hanford and get up there quite often. I worked for the Edison Company up there from 1968 to 1974, moved to the high desert, then to Ventura and finally to San Onofre Nuclear Gen Station for 12-1/2 years and retired in 1996. I still remember a lot of old home sites around the valley where we would set poles and find all kinds of old bottles and stuff when we dug the holes for the poles. I even read meters in Sequoia National Park in 1968-69. There are a lot of great places to hunt up there. If you care to share some of your hunting experiences up there, I would love to read them.
