Have had my Explorer for about 3 months and like the Periscope for pinpointing. Been detecting alone and teaching myself how. Don't know about all you that can distinguish the tones so accurately to the finds. I hear the different tones but the association is where I get lost. I live here below Yosemite, anyone else live up this way?

Hi shep and welcome to the forum! You are very lucky to live up in the mother lode gold country! You will probably get more of a response to your tone id question if you post it over on the California metal detecting forum. More people check that one. Just click on the link above and post away! Shep........
A few of the Valley Girls have been detecting in your backyard lately.
One of these guys is an expert with the Explorer, I wont give you his name, but his initials are P.A.U.L. He's a great guy and always quick to help, and fun to hunt with.
Your neck-o-the-woods has great potential, and I'm sure, (whats his name) will want to pick your brain a little about it.
Good luck with your new machine.

Welcome Shep, I'm an Explorer user too and would be happy to help you with the tones, etc. I love the machine, wouldn't trade it for the world.
I'm over in Santa Cruz, but there's a few folks over your way that might chime in here...
