Does anyone know how to get these maps? I have heard about them and just checked the web, but it looks like they only sell them to institutional subscribers. My dad told me to try the library, so I called them but they have never heard of them.

Hello Doug, You can find the Sanborn Maps for San Jose and surrounding areas in the California Room located in the Martin Luther King Jr. Library at 180 West San Carlos St. The California Roon has a nice collection of local and state history. Plan on spending some time, there's a lot of interesting reading/photos.
Good Luck,
D & T

Hi Doug,
If you can find Joe Braga's email address from the old forum you might check with him. The old time bottle diggers had access to them and have copies. Also check Warren's bottle website for the San Jose bottle club they might have a contact for the Sanborn maps.
Good Luck,
OT

ok, what was I thinking - the Martin Luther King, jr. Library was closed today, like all the other libraries I'll have to stop by tomorrow. I did check out their website and they have a site where you can get digital copies of all the sanborn maps. Looks pretty cool, but I can't try it out until I get a card for the SJ branches. I'll post that link under the "links" forum.
