Welcome JJbaz, the article you are refering to is on this forum. I believe you need to have "10" posts to gain access to read it.It's located under the California Metal Detecing header, then general. The posts don't take long to accumilate. Where are you from and what type of detecting do you do? Beach, Parks, etc. ? HH Vern2sjc

I'm afraid that's right. You have to have 10 posts before you can access that area.
Start talking JJBaz!!

Thanks for the welcome TOM, VERN & TONKA. My home base is Arizona. Been mostly nugget shooting and treasure hunting the last few years, just upgraded from a SD-2100 & GP Extreme to a GP 3000 w/ Nugget Finder & Coiltek coils. But, I really missed not having a versatile coin/relic/beach machine so, sold some old detectors and bought a Explorer II. Now I'm trying to learn it! Started out trying to work a ghost town, but the trash was really makin it hard to learn the machine even w/ a x-5 coil & x-1 probe. Contacted "Big Mike" at his website and he's been helping me walk before running, meaning I'm working schools and parks w/ very little trash. Gearing up to hit the beaches as soon as I know this machine better. Been lurking around the last week or two reading the posts. Great site you have. Pretty sure I will exceed the required 10 posts to be able to read.....reading the beach. HH, JJ

Hello JJBaz,
We have a few explorers here at Kinzli's. I was the one who posted about Tom's beach tips. Glad to have you here.
My hunting buddies have been using a program on the explorer that was tested and promoted by Cody at findmall. It's gain 10, auto sens and ferrous tones. It has worked very well and continues to find silver. Great for demos and highly mineralized sites.
I am currently experimenting with a new set up that produced a ring the first time out. Could have been luck, but I took it to an area I have covered at least 15 times with all my coils including the WOT. Lower than usual sens in manual, audio 1, gain 6 and ferrous. This works best in open fields.
I know a lot of people who absolutely dont adjust their EX detectors. That works well, I did that for almost 2 years. But these days, I am having a lot of fun using setups that absolutely are great at certain sites.
HH,
bing

The setting's Mayumi use's,the only other thing I do is turn on fast and deep also run my IM(iron mask)at -14 and run my sens. at 8,but that is for demo's.I would use everything but adjust your sens. higher. Also make slow sweep's and just barely overlap your swing's. The explorer love's to go slow.HH,Tom

Thanks for the programs Mayumi1......gain at 10 !? Two firsts, havn't heard of anyone running their gain that high or sensitivity as low as 8...... thanks LodiTom. This definitely gives me some options to play with. Will keep these options in my programs file. Appreciate the feedback guys. HH, JJ
