Tim and I have been searching an old hotel site near Yuma for the past few days after work. So far we have come up with a bunch of wheaties, all pre-1940's, four Mercury dimes and, today......my very first Barber quarter!! It is REALLY worn, and I can't even read the date for sure, but it appears to be (under magnification) 1901. I haven't cleaned it up yet, and the scan makes it look way worse than it really is, but I'm in such a hurry to post it I can't wait for minor details like cleaning! Anyway, not much for some people, but a first for me! So I'm happy! I'm going to try to post a photo.....hope I get it right. Marc //www.freeimagehosting.net/] [/url]

Good job Gilamarc! And we were looking for the Barber dime. I think this spot will turn up more first for us.

Wooo hoo! Way to go !!!!
Thats at the top of my list of unfound goodies. But, I wouldn't cry and sulk if I pulled a Barber half instead of a Barber quarter.
Maybe there are some gold coins or silver dollars waiting out there for you!
Good Luck, Gary

Thanks for looking and for the comments. I just wish it had been in better condition. And I also wish it had been an "S" mint! Oh, well, I'm just REAL happy to have found one of any kind!
We're going back again tomorrow for another try!
