Welcome aboard Onemacgyver, and to metal detecting. I've never used a Prizm, but I have read plenty of positive reports on them. Seems that they have good depth and are competitively priced.

I you have not already purchased, take a look at the new Garrett 250.
It is a neat little machine and the price is great for all the option that it includes. It seems to have a lot more features than the Prism line with 3 tone ID, Visual ID, Depth meter, notch discrimination etc. ($250 MSRP) Probably get it cheaper on line or if you talk to a local dealer. Might be worth your time to check it out.
I personally think it is a great introductory machine that will do the hobby justice!! (find some good stuff with little frustration)
Good Luck
