Hey Leroy here's what to do.........
Take your machine set it up like your going hunting,then put it on a flat surface like a chair or table and away from all metal object's. Then get some of the item's you are looking for,like merc dime's,rosie,gold ring,etc.....then one at a time wave them in front of your coil.Do it a couple of time's then move your hand back some,keep doing this process until you get no signal.This is not very accurrate for depth reading,as soil condition's very.This is also a good way to check where each item read's and what sound's it make's.
Another way to test for depth is make a test garden in your yard. All you need is an area clean of trash and other metal object's.Then get the item's you want to find and bury them at differrent depth's and run your machine over it.This is a better way for testing depth but is also not totally accurrate either.Like I said soil condition's very.Hope this help's you out.HH,Tom
