Hi All I would like to start detecting and new to this forum. I live in Ontario Canada, I am hoping I could learn something from fellow members here regarding selection of a metal detector and useage, books etc. All help would be appreciated. I can post some of the areas that i would like to search, if you guys could reccomend or suggest the best equipment to use.

Welcome to the forum!!First what are you going to be looking for??Coin's,jewelry,relic's or beach hunting??That would help on giving you an idea of what machine's you should be looking at.HH,Tom
P.S. also forgot,nugget shooting for gold.

Thanks all, Specifically, gold precious metals in bush and creeks of noretn ontario. If it could also find stuff jewellery etc from old home sites that would be a bonus. Dumb question I don't want to find gold that is 3 feet inside of bedrock surface preffered.

If your wanting to find gold and also look for jewelry then your best bet is to look into the whites mxt.It is both machine's rolled up into one.You can switch it from looking for jewelry and coin's to looking for gold.If you type in whites detector's in your search area,you can read about it more.HH,Tom

I am hoping I could learn something from fellow members here regarding selection of a metal detector.........books Hi Steve, For MD machines I would say Whites For books I would say Garret's I have an XLT but Loditom's MXT suggestion is would be a better machine for your usage. Charles Garret is a good author, I have several of his books. I have never used a Garret machine though, green is not my favorite color. Dan
