This should prolong the life of your probes (S-1, X-1, vibraprobe, etc...) buy some 5 minute epoxy from almost any hardware store and mix up a dime or nickel size amount, brush a thin layer on the tip of your (clean) probe and viola! a super cheap, super effective probe cover that will last months. reapply as needed. ;D

Very ingenious tip. May I add a little detail. I use epoxy a lot for RC modelling. By applying a tight layer of Saran Wrap on the prob tip before you apply epoxy, you can make the probe cover removable. Some fiberglass/kevlar/carbon fiber cloth will make it BOMBPROOF.
