What is the best way to detect with mxt on the wet beaches regarding settings? I have a excalibur 1000 but it is so heavy.

Don't know nothing about the MXT. But why not get a 'swingy thingy' carriage harness for your MD? I got one and since I got it my back ache reduced by 90% (no kidding) and I can swing for hours with no problems whatsoever. HH Martin

Incase you didn't get an email concerning the swingy thing, it is a shoulder harness assembly that has a little adjustable bungee cord that attaches to your detector. it makes it so your arm doesn't get tired from hours on end of swinging a tector. kinda neat. I made my own though, it just seemed so much easier to make one than to spend 20 bucks on one.

Boxtopp, Bought my swingy thingy from Doc/In Vegas. Paid well over $20.00, but worth every penny. I could not have made one as nice, plus it has a great hook attachment to the detector that allows for quick adjustment for height. Makes my sovereign weightless for hours of use. I use it on my Tesoro Sandshark and can do six plus stright hours, no problem. GaryC/SanBdno.

One place you might look is eBay. There is one person who has been advertising them at $25.00 or so. I'm not sure they are the same as a"thingy" but they more or less look the same. I have not tried one but they look pretty good. If you search under "metal detector" it'll come up.
Good luck and HH,

Warning About San Francisco Area Beaches!
From Marin down to South San Francisco, the beaches are under the authority of the U.S. Parks Department. Federal Law prohibits the use or possession of a metal detector on lands patroled by U. S. Park Service. Be careful.. check with the local ranger for an okay, if he/she will give it.
No Joke. You could lose your machine......or worse.

Sorry for the bad new's, Stinson is a off limit's park now, be careful if you go, I think the beach north but connecting to Stinson is public, it's just a quarter mile up there, last I was there a couple year's ago it was ok.
HH & good luck........................j im

Hi Boxtop,
On a beach, set your mxt to the "salt" ground balance position and start at the factory recommended gain setting. Back off of that a bit if the mxt becomes unstable.
