Doubt it. Check with your local dealer. They can often do better than KellyCo in terms of price, and there's no contest in terms of customer service. I can say this without even knowing who your local dealer is If you don't have a local dealer, consider www.treasurefinder.com/

Dan, I was thinking about doing the same thing. I could have saved about twenty bucks but the service and training from my local guy was worth so much more. Go local and you won't be sorry. Aaron

Dan, I have a gently used DFX for sale in the for sale section. I sold the 2 extra coils. But everything you see there you can have for 750. I am in Stockton, so you can come by and test drive it, before you pay. Let me know. Martin

Greetings, I bought the MXT from Tom in Minn. best deal I could find. He beat Kellyco by $75.00 on the machine and matched them on the acces. Free shipping and no sales tax.
P.S. I am very happy with the MXT. Second coin found was a 1963 quater at 7 inches and a little latter a 1944 wheatie at 5 inches. This was in a park that I had been through countless times with an old Whites eagle.

I bought my XLT at Kellyco, got a great price too. I know I should by from my local dealer but then I would had had to pay another $70 in tax.
Just last night, on my way home from work, I stopped at my "local White's dealer" to look at the DFX & MXT. Everything was listed at full retail price. I asked if she could do better on the price and she said she could come down 3% if I paid cash, and that was only because that was what they would have to pay the credit card company.

But rarely does anyone know "exactly" what they are doing with a new detector.
Buying from a good dealer who knows his product and willing to help you thru the basics and offers you tips and tricks... is INVALUABLE if you are new to the hobby.
It's SMART if you are someone who is already in the hobby.
Those who have gone thru a few detectors (like me!) realize that the learning curve for detectors is pretty high until you get to understand the detector and get a "feel" for how it operates.
If you're buying NEW, in simple terms -- buy from a local dealer. if you don't, you're likely making a tradeout of many, many hours of trial and error. If you're into working things out for yourself, that's great.
Be informed.
Be aware, that cost savings aren't everything.

YOU CAN DO A LOT BETTER THAN KELLYCO. YOU SHOULD HAVE TRIED PRO/STOCK DETECTORS IN PLAINWELL, MICHIGAN. A BRAND NEW MXT IS $670, PLUS $18 DOLLARS SHIPPING. WHERE EVER YOU BUY----HH. G.B.A.J. AKA: STRIKER

Hello Gentlemen and Ladies ( we would hope),
I have used KellyCo. for years, and I wouldn't think about buying from someone else unless I looked at their prices first. When I wanted an Explorer, I went to my local dealer. He told me I didn't want an Explorer, I wanted a DFX. A little while later someone else walked in who really wanted an Explorer, and sure enough he could find one for him. Ok, I never actually met a Minelab dealer out here, but the detector dealer I did meet, wasn't much help. Now, I am the kind of guy who never sends in a warrantee card, and I would never buy an extended warrantee. The truth is, a lot of people, like myself, won't remember much from a couple minute demo in the field. However, if you are new to detecting, and find a dealer who is willing to show you how it is done, then that is worth much more than gold. However, if you know the basics, don't mind reading, and aren't concerned about customer service (I have never needed it with the detectors I have bought), then Kelly Co is the way to go. I bought my Technetiks from them in the early 80s and my Explorer in 2002, and several in between. I have had no problems.
Just another point of view, JimClick

I bought my last DFX from a Mississippi dealer that was 140 dollar's cheeper than my local dealer would do. Add to that sales tax & it's over 200 dollars different.
If you have a local dealer that will give you the 20 percent off then all your out is the local taxes & maby a few extra's that are worth about 20 buck's. I've tried several Cal dealers & they don't care if they sell one or not cause detector's are a sideline.
Good luck.............................j im

I bought a GMT from Kellyco and the service was good. I am going to buy either a DFX or an MXT by the end of the month but have not decided yet. I think this time around I might buy local since I found out my local dealer will give GPAA members 15% discount. I am in Orange County, So. Cal. Hector

Kellyco is cool When I was hitting that lot in riverside with Mike and Randy my Automax probe broke and I also noticed that the tip was worn thru. So on monday I called Kellyco, knowing that the warranty was way over. They ask me a few question and then they told me to send it back and they would send me a replacement! Well UPS just came and I got me a brand spanking new probe!! HH ~ Tom p.s. I'm just going to have to be not so rough with this probe.

Dan, I just received a list of detectors for sale in the mail yesterday from Clevenger Detector Sales. On the front page it states that "as of 1/16/2004 White's no longer allows shipment of it detectors by MAIL ORDER as per White's Factory" I don't know if this is tru or not but I have been on the phone with several "Dealers" around the Country over the past couple of weeks and with my "Local" dealer also, Trying to get a price on a White's Surfmaster Pro PI and couldn't get much of a commitment or they were very evasive about it, except my local dealer. I don't know what is going on here with whites factory but they seem to be changing their policy in regards to the Internet and Mail Order customers.
If anyone knows more or Specifics on this subject please post or email me on the details. thanks All Sincerely, Bill A.
