Hello everyone, i am new to metal detecting and recieved my first metal detector as a gift (i picked it). i chose a famous trails model because i didn't know any better (and it was cheap). but i can't seem to find any info on it at all! it is The Discriminator II, on their website it has minimal information on it, it doesnt' seem to be a popular model. anybody help me out here, i have read a few faqs about metal detecting but if anyone could point me in the direction of some good info, it would be appreciated. thanks a mill!

I do know the machine you are using. I have a couple friends who bought this very machine not long ago. Its a very cheap machine offering simple ferrous/non-ferrous detection, and a view meter with indicator lights so you know if you've detected iron or steel, or a more precious non-ferrous metal. There are three tone audio discrimination sounds for different types of metals. From what I saw the detector does not do much or do it very well but then again you might make it work well for you. They sell these on Ebay so you can find additional info there I am sure. Good Luck and welcome to the forum!

My neighbor has one of those, he finds stuff and has fun. Although it is an inexpensive detector it will find coins. I think that your success depends as much on where you use the detector as it does on the quality of your detector. Take it out and find something. Good luck.
